The October War will forever remain a turning point in our contemporary history, the day our Armed Forces regained the nation's honor and dignity and wiped occupation off its land.

On the 49th anniversary of this glorious victory that we celebrate today, I salute the Egyptian people and our brave Armed Forces for their valour and heroism and salute our martyrs who sacrificed their souls under the nation's flag.

On this day, I also salute late President Anwar El-Sadat, hero in war and peace, who fought the war with great confidence in God and built the nation with determination, achieving a great victory that shall remain evidence to the willpower of the Egyptian people who grasp tightly to the nation's sovereignty and dignity.
