All this make it fit to receive visitors from all over the world.

One of the most prominent sectors of the country that witnessed many successes and achieved high growth rates, as the country was keen on paying attention to this important vital sector which contributes greatly to the national economy, as one of the country's sources of foreign exchange.

Pointers and praises

Egypt advanced 18 places in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index from 2015 to 2019.

Tourism succeeded in achieving an average revenue of $12.6 billion in 2018-2019, after revenues in 2013-2014 amounted to $5 billion only, which is reflected positively on the global impression of Egyptian tourism which received international acclaim on top of which is the World Bank that confirmed that the tourism sector is one of the main drivers for the growth of the Egyptian economy.

The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization announced the selection of Egypt to be the first country he visited outside Europe since the beginning of the Corona virus crisis.

“Travel Inside” magazine confirmed that Egypt is the first in the world among the most sought-after tourist destinations during the current period, outperforming many other tourist destinations such as the Maldives and the Caribbean islands.

The World Travel and Tourism Council confirmed that Egypt obtained the Safe Travel Seal.
"TripAdvisor"- which is the largest travel platform in the world – has chosen the city of Alexandria one of the best popular tourist destinations in the world, as it ranked 23rd worldwide.

The state's efforts to support the tourism sector, especially during the period of crises, have been the subject of many international praises, especially in its dealings with the Ukrainian crisis and directing all means of support and comfort to Ukrainian tourists who could not return to their country, as they were hosted in hotels full board, and provided flights to countries neighboring Ukraine, in order to get them back to their country, which increased confidence in the Egyptian tourist destination, which is one of the best tourist destinations worldwide.

Promoting Egyptian tourism

The state's interest in promoting Egyptian tourism relied on showing the size of the diversity that characterizes the Egyptian tourist destination, as it includes beach tourism, cultural, religious, beach sports, and other types of tourism that attract many different groups worldwide and increase their competitiveness in this field weighing Egypt as one of the best tourist destinations in the world.

The law establishing the Egyptian Gate for Umrah

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities worked to issue the law establishing the Egyptian Gate for Umrah to preserve the rights and preserve the security and safety of Egyptian pilgrims, which reflected positively on the success of the Umrah season during the year 2022.

Support for hotel establishments

The minimum fee for the accommodation service has been set in hotel establishments of all categories, as well as increasing the internet speed in hotel establishments, and providing support to the facility that seeks to convert to green energy.

The Ministry worked on re-evaluating hotel establishments according to the new standards for classification of hotel establishments (HC). The Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers contracted with a specialized international company to prepare a national strategy for sustainable tourism in Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry, and held a workshop with all concerned authorities in the state and the private sector.

Tourism support

The state directed unlimited support to the tourism sector during the Corona pandemic and the Ukrainian crisis, in order to preserve the Egyptian workforce in the tourism sector, as:
Extending the grace period for the initiative of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance to guarantee the latter at a value of 3 billion pounds, at an interest rate of 5%, to finance the payment of workers’ salaries.

Obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to increase the discount granted on the price of aviation fuel for tourist trips to 15 cents until April 2022.
Extending the exemption of all cafeterias and bazaars in museums from paying rents until October 2021, a 50% reduction in the rental value for the months of November and December 2021 and January 2022, and a 50% reduction in ticket prices for archaeological sites and museums for Egyptians during the “Various in Egypt” initiative.

The Ministry finished vaccinating workers in tourist facilities in South Sinai and the Red Sea against the Corona virus.

The completion of the registration of about 207 thousand workers in tourism on the databases of the "labor market" system, which was recreated.

Return of Russian flights

The efforts of the Egyptian state succeeded in the return of Russian flights to Egyptian tourist destinations and the resumption of flights from Russia to the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada after stopping flights since 2015, in addition to increasing the number of Russian flights to 25 flights per week, as well as the resumption of flights from England to Sharm El-Shaikh .

A project to automate the services of the central administration of hotel establishments, shops and tourism activities in the ministry

The project aims to automate more than 120 services provided by the central administration of hotel establishments, shops and tourism activities, and make them available to customers with the ministry through its website. The time frame for this project includes launching services successively until they are fully completed within a period ranging between 9 to 10 months. Also, this project provides new mechanisms to enable the Ministry's inspectors to perform their duties, which contributes to ensuring the quality of services provided.

SMS for tourists

The Ministry has created a service for sending short text messages to tourists upon their arrival, bearing the hotline number assigned to them by the Ministry, in addition to other emergency numbers.

Executing huge events that are covered globally

The Ministry adopted a new approach by implementing huge activities that are covered globally to show the Egyptian tourist destination in a new image other than the traditional image, according to the new strategy for tourism promotion, and the implementation of a set of promotional activities during the periods before the start of the Corona virus pandemic crisis, and during the period of stopping tourism movement due to the crisis, and after the resumption of the tourism movement, including the implementation of a number of introductory trips for tour operators, diplomats, journalists, correspondents, local, international and regional TV channels, and hosting Egyptian, Arab and foreign bloggers and influencers of different nationalities who enjoy high follow-up rates on social media after the resumption of tourism.

An introductory visit for representatives of the Russian media
An introductory visit was organized for two delegations of representatives of the most important Russian media to learn about the health safety controls applied in the Egyptian resorts and tourism promotion to Egypt after the decision to resume the Russian tourism movement to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada.

The Ministry relied on the production of a set of promotional and documentary films such as the film "Egypt of Civilization" about the state's efforts in the field of antiquities, a promotional film for the Arab markets, a documentary film for the restoration of colors to the temples of Luxor, Karnak, Esna and Dendera, and 27 films to highlight the tourism potential in each of the governorates of the Republic, in addition to To filming testimonies of groups of tourists about their positive experience in visiting Egypt and presenting it in their countries, and the film "Luxor the Secret" to highlight the tourism and archaeological elements of Luxor Governorate.

Promotional campaigns

A number of promotional campaigns have been launched to encourage domestic and incoming tourism, such as: the "Various in Egypt" initiative to encourage domestic tourism, the launch of a promotional film for the initiative and the purchase of advertising space - a promotional campaign in the Arab market entitled "Summer in Egypt is a story" in May 2021, and the launch of the second part of Campaign in June - A campaign entitled "Egypt in the eyes of the EU ambassadors", through which the ambassadors of the European Union countries in Cairo published more than 20 films to promote their favorite Egyptian tourist and archaeological sites and published them on their social networking sites and their countries' embassies - a campaign on social networking sites In the Russian market, where Egypt won the best digital promotional campaign on social media platforms in Russia in November 2021, and it also won the award for the best advertising film in the Middle East for the category of exceptional stories on sustainable tourism.
