Minister: Over EGP 12.3 bn spent on local development projects in FY 2022

The government has spent a total of EGP 12.344 billion on local development projects nationwide in the period from July 2022 to mid-November, Local Development Minister Hisham Amna said in a statement on Saturday 26/11/2022.

Amna added that the amount of money spent represents 48 percent of the EGP 29 billion allocated for municipal development during this fiscal year, clarifying that the projects come as part of an investment plan outlined for developing Egyptian villages economically, socially as well as architecturally.

The minister stressed the importance of regularly following up on the implementation rates of the development projects and working on overcoming any challenges.

Amna said EGP 8.4 billion was allocated to projects in Upper Egypt governorates under the current fiscal year plan, EGP 7.7 billion to Greater Cairo projects, EGP 2.6 billion to Alexandria, EGP 2.7 billion to the Delta, EGP 5.5 billion to the Sinai Peninsula and EGP 2.1 billion to the Suez Canal governorates.
