The Third Annual Meeting of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH)

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH), Assistant Minister of Health and Population, General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, inaugurated on Saturday 26/11/2022 the activities of the third annual meeting of the Public Authority for Health Care 2022, under the slogan ‘Building a Medical Civilization in the New Republic… Three Years of Comprehensive Health Insurance.”
The event was held in Karnak Temple in Luxor within the celebrations of the Public Authority for Health Care, marking the third anniversary of the inauguration of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the new comprehensive health insurance system in Port Said on 26 November 2019.
The event, which is sponsored by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, was attended by Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Luxor Governor Mostafa Alham, heads of health care departments, and a number of Arab and African ambassadors, as well as a galaxy of well-known Arab and international specialists in the health sector.
Al-Sobky said that the third annual meeting of the authority celebrates the pioneering Egyptian experience in implementing the system and the achievements of the Health Care Authority.
He highlighted that the system is being implemented in four governorates — Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai.
Al-Sobky added that the annual meeting of the Health Care Authority witnessed the display of the first interactive 3D hologram in Egypt at the Karnak Temple and a discussion session on the future of healthcare in Egypt, in addition to honouring healthcare work symbols and success partners for the comprehensive health insurance project from the private sector.
He also pointed out that a meeting will be held on the sidelines of the forum with Arab and Emirati investors and the success partners of the project from the private sector to discuss strengthening cooperation, exchanging experiences for the continuity of improving the health care system in Egypt, and encouraging the investment climate in the field of health care.
Al-Sobky also stressed the importance of the meeting in consolidating relations with major Arab and international health institutions, agencies, and counterpart bodies to encourage the investment climate in the field of health care in Egypt and to enhance the country’s global leadership in this field, emphasizing that there are great investment opportunities in the field of health care in Egypt.
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said, in his speech, that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is periodically monitoring the comprehensive health insurance system and had ordered to overcome all obstacles, as he believes that all citizens should have access to health services regardless of their financial status.
The minister added that the comprehensive health insurance system was a dream in a country with a population of more than 100 million in 27 governorates.He pointed out that the system will be implemented nationwide in a very short time.
