President El-Sisi's visit to the UAE to participate in The World Government Summit

On February 12, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi headed to the United Arab Emirates, leading a high-level government delegation to participate in The World Government Summit. The summit is held every year since 2013 in Dubai, under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid.

President El-Sisi Arrives in Abu Dhabi and Holds Meeting with the President of the UAE

 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, to participate in The World Government Summit. The President was received by President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.


The two leaders held a meeting at Qasr Al-Shati’ Palace in Abu Dhabi. Commencing the meeting, President El-Sisi extended his sincerest condolences over the passing of Sheikha Maryam bint Abdullah bin Sulayem Al Falasi, praying Allah Almighty to grant her His mercy and forgiveness and her family patience and solace.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmad Fahmy, said the meeting emphasized the special characteristics of the firm Egyptian-UAE relations, which reflects on the ongoing coordination between the two brotherly countries. He added that this helps reinforce stability in the Arab region and the Middle East. The talks also touched on ways to cultivate closer bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation across an array of fields.


President El-Sisi Meets UAE Vice President, PM and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid

 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmad Fahmy, noted that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum underscored the special status of Egypt and the Egyptian people in the hearts of the Emirati people, valuing Egypt’s leading role in defense of Arab issues and the positions and policies of the Egyptian political leadership, at the domestic and international levels.

During the meeting, the two sides confirmed their appreciation of the robust brotherly relations and historical bonds the two countries and their peoples share. They also lauded their profound relations across all levels, particularly with Dubai, which reflected positively on the intensive mutual coordination with regard to priority issues and their efforts to achieve the two sides’ common objectives and interests.

President El-Sisi emphasized that Dubai’s progress and prosperity constitute an inspiring development experience for the entire region. The President expressed appreciation for the special invitation to Egypt as a Guest of Honor in the World Government Summit in Dubai. He confirmed that the World Government Summit contributes to generating creative and innovative ideas that represent an inspiring way to address the various regional challenges. President El-Sisi stressed that Egypt’s participation in the summit with a high-level delegation reflects the deep and outstanding relations between the two brotherly countries, reiterating that they represent a major foundation for maintaining security and Arab interests in the region.

President El-Sisi Meets the IMF Managing Director

On February 13, 2022, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the meeting reviewed Egypt’s relations with the IMF, particularly in light of the cooperation program between the two sides to complete the implementation of Egypt’s economic reform process.

President El-Sisi valued the fruitful engagement and constructive cooperation between the Government of Egypt and the IMF to continue the implementation of the comprehensive economic reform program. The President affirmed Egypt's keenness on further enhancing the structural reforms pertinent to the fiscal and monetary policies and on bolstering the role of the private sector. This aims to provide a positive climate for all investors and global financial markets on the Egyptian economy, and increase the investment opportunities and the broad prospects it offers.

IMF Managing Director Ms. Georgieva commended the performance and resilience of the Egyptian economy as well as its ability to survive and accommodate the negative repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis, taking into consideration Egypt’s vision for development that it seeks to pursue under the leadership of President El-Sisi. It aims to continue improving the overall indicators of the Egyptian economy, and hence the IMF's aspiration to further advance the distinguished cooperation with Egypt and to support its economic reforms.

President El-Sisi Participates in Roundtable on Billionaire Startups at the World Government Summit

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a Roundtable on Billionaire Startups at the World Government Summit, in Dubai. It was also attended by officials from major billionaire startups in technology applications, artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce and sustainable resource management.

The meeting witnessed a wide-ranging dialogue with representatives of corporations interested in working in Egypt or in expanding their existing projects. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's keenness on maintaining constant communication with investors to identify the problems and impediments they encounter and to work toward eliminating all obstacles they are facing. The President underscored the importance of the private sector’s role, particularly startups and entrepreneurs, which are a major drive for sustainable development, through investments and transfer of knowledge, in particular modern and technological.

Egypt’s efforts to attract investment and encourage entrepreneurship have also been reviewed. This is, in addition to prospects for cooperation and possible future projects between Egypt and the corporations and institutions participating in the event, in light of the progress achieved at the level of structural economic reform and the creation of conducive legislative and institutional structure to attract more foreign investment to Egypt. The discussion also touched on Egypt's other potential including its manpower, qualified infrastructure, which has been modernized and expanded over the past years, as well as its diverse sources of energy and huge market.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s participated in the World Government Summit in Dubai. The President’s participation comes within the framework of Egypt being the Guest of Honor of this year's edition of the event.



President El-Sisi Participates in Session on “Empowering the Private Sector and the Role of TSFE"

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a session on "Empowering the Private Sector and the Role of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE)”, which was held on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai. The session was attended by representatives of a number of the largest family-owned companies; the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Economic Development, International Cooperation, Finance, Communications and Information Technology, and Trade and Industry as well as the Chief Executive Officer of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt.

President El-Sisi was keen on highlighting the state's ongoing efforts across all levels to spur the private sector activity and provide opportunities for investment partnerships that realize the common interests of all parties. The President also reviewed measures undertaken to strengthen the institutional framework supportive of investment, foremost of which is the adoption of the State Ownership Policy Document. The State Ownership Policy Document seeks to promote competitive neutrality, and establish The Sovereign Fund of Egypt as one of the mechanisms to advance the partnership with the local and foreign private sectors. The aim is to realize the objectives of the state’s development strategy, which considers the private sector as a key partner in the development process, in accordance with the structural reform plan for the economy and the priority sectors in this regard. Those include primarily the agriculture, industry, services, health, education and tourism sectors.
