President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered intensifying efforts to add around 3.5 feddans in the New Delta, Toshka and Sinai to the area of agricultural land in Egypt, representing more than a third of cultivated land nationwide as part of a mega national strategy to meet the aspirations and hopes of the Egyptian people, achieve food security and up the agricultural exports along with enhancing all the sectors of the national economy.

This came during a meeting held by the president to follow up on "Egypt's Future" Project for the Agricultural Production. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Ahmed El Shazli, Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayyed Ahmed and Executive Director of Egypt Future Authority for Sustainable Development attended the meeting.
Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said Sisi was briefed during the meeting on the current and future developments of "Egypt's Future" project, which is one of the State’s most important major national projects in the New Delta. The president was notified on the flow of work at the project, the roads and axes included, water wells, water treatment stations, the power grid as well as the agricultural manufacturing and marketing systems.
In April 2017, President El-Sisi gave directives on the immediate implementation of ‘Egypt’s Future’ Project for Agricultural Production to provide high quality agricultural products at reasonable prices for citizens and to export the surplus abroad, so as to reduce imports, provide hard currency and achieve sustainable development goals.
