PM meets with members of Supreme Medical Committee

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Tuesday 6/6/2023 with the members of the Supreme Medical Committee of the Egyptian Cabinet, following the issuance of a decision to restructure it.

At the first meeting of the Supreme Medical Committee after its reconstitution, Dr. Madbouly referred to the efforts of the Committee in responding to citizens, praising the coordination and cooperation between the Committee and the various concerned authorities to provide the necessary medical care and health interventions required for citizens.

Furthermore, he directed to take the necessary steps and procedures to strengthen the mechanisms of communication with citizens and respond to their appeals for medical help.

For his part, Dr. Hossam Al-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Cabinet and Chairman of the Committee, stressed the support received by the Supreme Medical Committee from the Prime Minister, and the cooperation of the ministries and concerned authorities, explaining that the work of the Committee is witnessing clear expansions and movements to enhance communication with citizens to monitor and respond to their medical relief. In this context, he referred to the efforts of the monitoring unit, the rapid intervention team and the follow-up and development team within the Committee, in dealing with citizens' medical relief.

The Prime Minister has issued a decision to reconstitute the Supreme Medical Committee, and stipulates that the Committee will be headed by Dr. Hossam Hassan Al-Masry, Cardiovascular Consultant, Assistant Secretary General of the Cabinet for Medical Affairs and the Medical Adviser to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The membership of the Committee shall include Dr. Hussein Mostafa Khalid, Professor of Oncology at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and former Minister of Higher Education; Dr. Hossam Mohamed Kamel, Professor of Hematology and Marrow Transplantation at NCI, former Dean of Cairo University; Dr. Sherif Wadih Nashid, Professor of Critical Care and Emergency, Faculty of Medicine, ASU; Dr. Alaa Mohamed Al-Haddad, Head of Children's Oncology Department at 57357 Hospital, former head of NCI; Dr. Hossam Hosni Mahmoud, Professor of Chest Diseases – Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University; Dr. Omar Osman Sorour, Professor of Neurosurgery – Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University; Dr. Mostafa Abdel-Rahman El-Shazly, Professor of General Surgery – Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University; and Dr. Walid Anwar Abdul-Mohsen, Professor of Internal Medicine and Kidney – Faculty of Medicine, ASU, and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals.

The committee also includes in its membership, Dr. Hisham Mohamed Al-Salami, prosthetic devices consultant at Agouza Rehabilitation Center of the Armed Forces; Dr. Karim Mohamed Al-Sukari, consultant orthopedic and joint surgeon, head of orthopedic department at Sheikh Zayed Specialist Hospital; Dr. Ahmed Negm Al-Shazly, assistant professor of otolaryngology; Dr. Walid Mohamed Mehran, consultant ophthalmologist – Faculty of Medicine, Beni Suef University; and Counselor Sayed Antar Morsi, Member of the Council of Ministers Advisors, and Vice-President of the Council of State.

Moreover, new members have been added to the Supreme Medical Committee, they are: Dr. Haider Ibrahim Sultan Ahmed, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Specialized Medical Councils; Dr. Amany Farag Rizkallah, Director of Contracts Department at the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA); Dr. Amir Mahmoud Al-Tilwani, Executive Director of the General Authority for Health Care; Dr. Ramzi Mounir Abdel-Azim, Director General of the Technical Office of the General Authority for Health Insurance; Dr. Hossam Mohamed Abdullah, Assistant Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority; and Amr Adel Ali Hussein, representing the Egyptian Ambulance Authority.
