The 31st edition of the Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Cairo Opera House, headed by Dr. Khaled Dagher, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the General Authority for the Promotion of Tourism, organizing the activities of the 31st session of the Citadel International Festival of Music and Singing during the period from August 25 to September 7, 2023, with the participation of elite singing stars in Egypt and the Arab world, at the Salah El-Din Citadel Theatre.
The festival will open at 08:00 PM and will continue for 14 consecutive days.
The festival consists of 45 diverse performances, including Egyptian and Arab musicians presenting shows for the first time.
The lineup features many prominent singers such as Simone, Hany Shaker, Walid Toufic, Nadia Mustafa, Ali El Haggar, Hisham Abbas, Medhat Saleh, Ghalia Benali, Nesma Mahgoub, Faia Younan, Lena Chamamyan, and Rock band Wust El-Balad.
It will also feature performances by musicians such as Omar Khairat and Hisham Kharma.
In addition to performances by international troupes in cooperation with the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector.
The festival will hold two consecutive concerts at the ‘El-Mahky’ theatre and a third at the open-air theatre.
Moreover, 5,000 seats were placed and Stage LED screens were set up for the event to further enhance the viewing experience of attendees.
The Salah El-Din Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing is one of the well-established and most important events organized by the Ministry of Culture.
Since its foundation in 1990, the festival has succeeded in achieving huge popularity due to the diversity and richness of its artistic program.
Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, inaugurated the activities of the 31st session of the "Al-Qalaa International Festival of Music and Singing".
Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani said that the festival includes a select group of musical stars from Egypt and the Arab world, along with a number of bands.
For his part, the President of the Cairo Opera House Khaled Dagher stated that this session will represent a qualitative leap in the history of the festival.
He explained that it was developed with great support from the Minister of Culture, to accommodate multiple musical forms and colors, aiming to reflect the spaciousness of music, and its convergence with all tastes, cultures and different age groups,
He added that the Citadel Festival aims to present diverse artistic and musical shows and trends such as independent music and spiritual music represented through religious chanting and Sufi music, jazz, classical music and modern Egyptian pop represented by a number of stars of the 1990 era and Egyptian folklore music.
