Transport Minister inspects Upper Egypt Railway Station ahead of opening

Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir on Saturday 09/09/2023 inspected Upper Egypt Railway Station in Bashtil in Giza governorate, in preparation for its inauguration during the upcoming period.

Wazir inspected the building of the main station, which is built on a total area of 31,000 square meters, as well as the parking lot that accommodates 250 vehicles.

The ground floor of the station is allocated for commercial purposes and administrative offices for station employees.

It, also, comprises 28 ticket booths, toilets and 40-meter-long glass pyramid decorating the entrance of the lobby.

The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) funded Bashtil station with a total construction cost worth EGP 3.5 bn.

Bashtil Train Station was planned to serve citizens moving to and from Upper Egyptian governorates as the goal of its establishing was alleviating the load on Ramses Train Station.

The station serves Upper Egyptian governorates through four tracks and platforms.
