Meetings with government officials

On September 3, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Mohamed Zaki; Director of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel; Minister of Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfik; and Governor of North Sinai, Major General Mohammed Abdel Fadeel Shousha.



The meeting
followed-up on progress in efforts toward the comprehensive development in North Sinai Governorate. President El-Sisi emphasized that these efforts must aim at charting an integrated and advanced development path, consistent with the importance and unparalleled status of Sinai and in harmony with the state’s similar efforts across the country, through the cooperation among all ministries and state authorities.

The President was updated on the measures and the huge efforts which have been exerted in Sinai over the past years, in order to restore security and stability, paving the way for the implementation of the state’s development vision and a multitude of national projects in Sinai, with the aim of providing a decent life and a decent standard of living for the people of Sinai.

On September 4, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Justice, Counselor Omar Marawan, and Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Ahmed Al-Azazy.


The meeting discussed the status of a number of projects of the Ministry of Justice, especially the City of Justice in the New Administrative Capital which will include a central complex for courts, a studies center, and other service facilities.

The President directed that the City of Justice be integrated with the current efforts that are made in order to comprehensively develop the litigation system in the country, especially by strengthening human cadres and judicial technical competencies, and developing the technical and technological aspects of the court system throughout Egypt.

On September 4, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El- Sisi met with Director General of the National Service Projects Organization of the Armed Forces, Major General Walid Abul-Magd, Chief of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, Major General Ahmed El-Azzazi, and Chairman of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Company, Major General Islam Ateyya.


The meeting reviewed work progress in a number of projects implemented by the National Service Projects Organization, notably in the field of fisheries development. This aims to increase self-sufficiency rates and provide more job opportunities, as part of efforts to achieve food security for the citizens and push forward the comprehensive development process across various spheres in the country.

On September 13, 2023,  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Public Business Sector Engineer Mahmoud Essmat, Governor of Alexandria Major General Mohamed Al-Sherif, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Director of the National Center for Planning State Land Use Major General Nasser Fawzi.


The meeting discussed the plan to reform and develop the companies of the public business sector. In this regard, the President was briefed on the status of a number of projects, including efforts to develop the sector’s textile companies. This is in addition to the developments in other projects within the iron and steel industry system. The President directed that efforts be continued to develop the companies of the public business sector, including the investment in human energy by qualifying professional and technical capabilities, in light of the efforts aimed at enhancing the contribution of this sector to the comprehensive development process.

The President also was briefed on the developments in the implementation of a number of projects carried out by the Ministry of Transport, especially with regard to the establishment and development of seaports and logistic corridors throughout Egypt, including the Arish-Taba logistic corridor that connects the ports of the Mediterranean and Red Seas and links production areas with seaports through dry ports and logistic areas.

These efforts are part of the state’s integrated plan to maximize the benefit of Egypt’s unique geographical location and develop the Egyptian port network.

The Spokesman added that the President directed that further efforts be made to develop the network of ports and main roads, link them to modern and multiple roads, axes, and means of transportation, and improve their connectivity with cities and industrial and logistic areas. These efforts aim to achieve integration between them to increase trade in ports and achieve facilitate transportation movement and trade. This would help promote the localization of various industries in Egypt, thus contributing to providing more distinguished job opportunities for the youth, adding to the comprehensive capabilities of the state, and helping raise the standard of living of citizens.

On September 17, 2023,  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Culture Neveen Al-Kilany, Commander of the Strategic Command and General Administrator of Military Industrialization Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khaled, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Major General Ahmed Al-Shazly and Chairman of the New Administrative Capital Company Khaled Abbas. 


The meeting followed-up on work progress in the implementation of a number of projects in the New Administrative Capital, with a focus on the City of Arts and Culture. The President gave directives to strengthen cooperation with reputable international expertise to manage and operate the City of Arts and Culture, in a manner that leverages its highly-advanced capabilities and potential and enhances its value as a new and unique beacon for Egyptian artistic and cultural creativity.

A general presentation was given on the aspects of the City of Arts and Culture, with a focus on the capital’s library, which encompasses a collection of rare books and artifacts. This is in addition to the Museum of Egyptian Capitals, which displays artifacts of the Egyptian capitals throughout history; the Museum of Arts; and the Museum of Coins. Other features of the city reviewed in the meeting included the new Opera House with its unique architectural, engineering and artistic styles and large accommodation capacity, in addition to two theaters for drama and music, equipped in line with the highest international standards to host global concerts and performances.

On September 17, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the swearing-in of Counselor Mohamed Shawky Ayyad as Prosecutor General.


The President wished the new Prosecutor General success in carrying out his duties and responsibilities, within the framework of the rule of law and hard work to safeguard citizens’ rights in accordance with the constitution and the law.

President El-Sisi awarded the Order of the Republic, First Class, to Counselor Hamada El-Sawy, the former Prosecutor General, expressing his sincere appreciation for his efforts to protect and safeguard the rights of citizens and society.

On September 21, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif.


The meeting reviewed the activities, plans and projects of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the AOI, in the various military and civil areas. The President was also updated on the organization’s development strategy, particularly with regard to boosting the manufacturing and technological capabilities of its factories and modernizing the production lines in accordance with the fourth Industrial Revolution. This is in addition to training human cadres on harnessing high-productivity and high-accuracy equipment, giving due interest to technical research, notably through the Arab Organization for Industrialization’s Training Academy, and strengthening cooperation with local and foreign private sector companies.

The President gave directives to continue the organization’s efforts in various fields, in order to meet the requirements of the state’s sustainable development plans, and in line with the policy of localizing the industry, transferring and localizing modern technology in Egypt, and keeping pace with the successive scientific development in the industrial field.

On September 21, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Justice, Counselor Omar Marwan.

During the meeting, President El-Sisi was briefed on the developments in the Ministry of Justice, especially with regard to efforts made to develop the litigation system at the republic level. These efforts include technical modernization and training programs provided to help raise the capabilities of human cadres. He was also updated on the status of the City of Justice that is being established in the New Administrative Capital.

The President directed that efforts aimed at achieving a qualitative improvement in the litigation system in Egypt be promoted, especially with regard to the technical development of court headquarters and buildings. His Excellency also directed that the latest technological means and techniques be made best use of in the court system in order to speed up litigation procedures, make them easier for citizens, and achieve justice.

Field tours and conferences

On September 5, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the opening of the Global Congress on Population, Health and Development 2023.

On September 16, 2023, President El-Sisi Extended condolences to families in Beni Suef of victims of floods in Libya.


On September 16, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited “Sods Al-Omara” village in Beni Suef Governorate to inspect and inaugurate a number of projects, as part of the first phase of the “Decent Life” presidential initiative in the governorate.


On September 26, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the celebration of Egyptian Universities' Excellence Day at Suez Canal University, Ismailia.


On September 26, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the awarding ceremony of top ranking graduates, as part of the Egyptian Universities' Excellence Day.


On September 27, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the celebration of Prophet Mohammad’s Birth, for the Hijri year 1445 AH, which was held by Ministry of Awkaf (Religious Endowments).


Receiving foreign officials

On September 3, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chief Executive Officer of Italian energy company, Eni, Mr. Claudio Descalzi. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Tarek El-Molla, and senior Eni officials.

During the meeting, the President valued the outstanding Egyptian-Italian relations as well as the longstanding partnership with Eni. The President also appreciated the multiple activities the company has implemented in Egypt at the highest global standards. President El-Sisi looked forward to further advancing the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Eni in the areas of search, exploration, development and production, with the aim of leveraging Egypt’s resources in the energy sector and enhancing the huge successes, which have been achieved in this regard over the past few years.

Eni’s CEO, Mr. Descalzi, expressed his pride in cooperating with Egypt, in light of the close bonds between Egypt and Italy. He underscored Egypt’s great importance as one of the major markets for Eni’s activities and business worldwide, given the promising opportunities the energy sector in Egypt enjoys, particularly with the state and the President’s personal interest to upgrade this vital sector and maximize its return to Egypt. Eni’s CEO noted that this has led to the establishment of a model of success that is acknowledged and appreciated around the world.

Mr. Descalzi offered an overview of the Italian company’s activities in Egypt, which are being implemented in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency. He pointed out that Eni and its partners are intent on injecting new investments into Egypt over the coming four years, at a value of 7.7 billion dollars, emanating from the Italian energy company’s commitment to boosting its successful projects in Egypt.

Eni’s CEO also reviewed the company’s upcoming search and exploration plans as well as development operations activities that will enable Eni to maintain high production rates from the fields. He also highlighted the progress achieved in energy efficiency and sustainability projects, that relate to the energy transition, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2023.



On September 6, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry.

President El-Sisi asked for his greetings to be conveyed to Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. The President underscored the great status and appreciation Egypt holds for Japan, at both the official and popular levels. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to fostering closer bilateral cooperation and to building on the outcome of Prime Minister Kishida’s visit to Egypt in April, during which the Egypt-Japan relationship was elevated to a “Strategic Partnership”.

Minister Hayashi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Prime Minister Kishida to President El-Sisi, stressing that Japan welcomes the positive progress in the two countries’ joint relations across all levels, in light of the “Strategic Partnership” they share. Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs acknowledged Egypt’s accomplishments in the field of development, which contributed to the surge in Japanese investments in Egypt and doubling them over a short period of time. He confirmed that Japan looks forward to continuing and enhancing this path.

The meeting focused on a number of dossiers pertinent to bilateral cooperation in a range of areas. President El-Sisi underlined Egypt’s keenness on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, given the interest in benefiting from the distinctive Japanese experience in this regard, particularly with regard to developing an outstanding human personality at all levels. The discussions also touched on various aspects of the ongoing cooperation in energy, transport and technology, in addition to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is considered a great icon of cultural cooperation between Egypt and Japan.

President El-Sisi and Minister Hayashi tackled international peace and security issues, notably the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its negative repercussions on the global economic situation as well as the energy and food crises. They also deliberated on a multitude of regional issues of mutual interest. Japan’s Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s position in support of Egypt’s relentless efforts to settle the ongoing crises in the region. The two sides’ views converged on the priority of political solutions and peaceful dialogue, and on maintaining the unity and cohesion of states, so as to safeguard their peoples’ resources and the foundations of their future. President El-Sisi and Minister Hayashi also shared views with regard to the importance of working toward reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, that shall bring about lasting peace to the region. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering position on the establishment of an independent Palestinian State, in accordance with international resolutions, in a manner that achieves the interests of all peoples of the region in peace, security and development.


On September 14, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry. 

The meeting noted the continuous development of the distinct relations between Egypt and France, whether at the official level between the two leaderships or at the popular level. Both sides confirmed mutual keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks across various fields and supporting joint efforts to achieve development and prosperity and combat terrorism and illegal immigration. This is in addition to continuous political coordination. The French foreign minister expressed appreciation for the balanced and rational approach of the Egyptian foreign policy in working to resolve crises and establish stability and peace in the region.

The President also stressed the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening cooperation with France, particularly the transfer of expertise and technology and joint manufacturing, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the energy, transport and environment sectors, and coordinating efforts to address the negative repercussions of the international political situation, especially aspects related to global rise in the prices of food, energy and finance.

The meeting touched on regional issues of common interest, mainly developments in the Palestinian issue and ways to revive the peace process, as well as efforts to resolve the crises in a number of countries in the region, especially in Sudan and Libya, in addition to the situation in the Sahel region. The President affirmed that Egypt will continue to exert utmost efforts to reach political and peaceful solutions to the existing crises, and therefore contribute to restoring regional security and stability, and preserving the capabilities of the people and their aspirations for a better future.


On September 14, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the Speaker of Equatorial Guinea's Senate Teresa Efua Asangono. The meeting was attended by Speaker of the Egyptian Senate Counselor Abdel Wahhab Abdel Razek and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.
Spokesman for the Presidency Counselor Ahmed Fahmy said President El-Sisi asked for his greetings to be conveyed to President Teodoro Obiang, highlighting the distinguished relations between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea and noting the keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries across various fields, whether at the bilateral or continental levels, especially enhancing intra-African trade and investments, and maintaining continental peace and security.

The Speaker of Equatorial Guinea's Senate delivered a letter to the President from President Obiang, in which he  expressed deep appreciation for Egypt and the Egyptian leadership, valued continuous progress in the course of relations between the two countries, and looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations at various levels. This is in light of Egypt’s efforts to meet the aspirations of the African peoples towards stability, development and prosperity and Egypt's effective contribution to advancing joint African action.
The meeting touched on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially at the parliamentary level, in addition to enhancing Egyptian investments in Equatorial Guinea, improving trade rates between the two countries, and supporting development and capacity building in Equatorial Guinea in various sectors.


On September 24, 2024, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a high-level Chinese delegation, headed by Mr. Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The meeting was attended by Speaker of Egypt’s Senate, Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, and the Chinese ambassador to Egypt.

Mr. Li Xi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to President El-Sisi, which the President reciprocated by confirming his sincere greetings and good wishes to the Chinese President.

The two sides valued the historical friendship between Egypt and China at the official, parliamentary and popular levels and affirmed their mutual keenness to continue developing bilateral cooperation, in light of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.

The Chinese official expressed his country’s positive view with regard to the remarkable development Egypt has been witnessing over the past years, which aims to build the state’s capacity and renaissance. He highlighted efforts toward the development of the Suez Canal Axis, which reflects the unparalleled strategic location of Egypt between the East and the West, as well as the steady improvement in the investment climate. The Chinese official confirmed that Egypt’s development vision aligns with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. President El-Sisi lauded China’s outstanding development experience, underscoring the numerus opportunities available to achieve the two countries’ mutual benefit. The two sides reviewed efforts to cultivate closer cooperation in a multitude of fields, including trade, the localization of the industry, technology transfer, energy, as well as tourism and international climate action.

Both sides also exchanged views on ways to maintain international peace and security. The Chinese side outlined its vision in this regard. President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s commitment to positively contribute to addressing the current challenges facing the international community and to enhancing joint international collective action to maintain peace and stability and move on the path of reforming the global financial governance system. The meeting also reviewed developments in the Middle East. The Chinese delegation expressed appreciation for Egypt’s active role to restore and solidify stability and development in the region, both through combating terrorism and achieving a political settlement to the various crises in the region.



On September 25, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the AIIB, Mr. Jin Liquin. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Eighth Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors, which is hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The President emphasized Egypt’s appreciation for the remarkable relations with the AIIB, given the important role it has played over the past years as a partner of Egypt in the development process. The President noted that this was demonstrated in Egypt’s hosting, for the first time, of the meetings of the AIIB Board of Governors. President El-Sisi looked forward to exploring more areas for cooperation with the AIIB, notably in the fields of transport, clean energy and fostering the Transition to Green Economy.

The AIIB’s President expressed pride in meeting with the President and extended gratitude for Egypt’s successful hosting of the meetings of the AIIB Board of Governors which are taking place in Africa for the first time. Mr. Jin Liquin confirmed that the bank values its close cooperation with Egypt and its various financial institutions, lauding the Egyptian experience in achieving comprehensive economic and social development. He underscored the Asian Bank’s commitment to further advancing the investment portfolio in Egypt, particularly with regard to financing infrastructure projects in various vital sectors.

The meeting also discussed ongoing efforts to reform the international financing system and the role of the multilateral development banks in strengthening the ability of developing countries to address the global economic challenges.



On September 27, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Head of General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel, Advisor to the President for National Security Affairs Ms. Fayza Abul Naga, and a number of senior Russian officials.

Russia’s Security Council Secretary conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Vladimir Putin to President El-Sisi. He stressed the importance that Russia attaches to consolidating bilateral relations with Egypt as part of the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement between the two countries. President El-Sisi also conveyed his sincere greetings to President Putin. The President praised the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the increase in trade exchange, and the joint development projects being implemented, most notably Al-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal axis.

Moreover, Mr. Patrushev briefed President El-Sisi on the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the developments of Russian movements in this regard at the international level. The President stressed Egypt’s position on the importance of giving priority to diplomatic solutions to the crisis, and supporting all efforts aimed at settling it politically in order to preserve international peace and security and end the negative economic repercussions which have caused great harm to countries with emerging economies, especially with regard to global food security which is exposed to serious risks.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in a number of fields and they exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.


Foreign visits
On September 8, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi headed to India to participate in the G20 Summit, that will be held in New Delhi.
The President’s participation in the G20 Summit comes upon an invitation from India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, whose country is assuming the current chairmanship of the group, in light of the importance of Egypt’s participation in the summit that is being held amid critical international conditions as well as Egypt’s close relations with India. During the summit’s functions, President El-Sisi is expected to focus on various issues of concern to developing countries, in general, and African countries, in particular. Those include, in particular, issues pertinent to the importance of strengthening international efforts to facilitate the integration of developing countries in the global economy in an equal manner, given the mutual opportunities and advantages it will provide. This will contribute to attracting investments and achieve economic growth and development for all parties. The President will underscore the importance of providing effective support to developing countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, in the face of the negative repercussions of a multitude of successive international crises on the economy, food and energy. President El-Sisi will also emphasize the need for developed countries to adhere to their commitments, within the framework of international agreements and mechanisms, to address climate change and empower developing countries to increase reliance on new and renewable sources of energy.
President El-Sisi’s agenda during his India visit is set to include holding bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 Summit for consultations with world leaders and officials on an array of issues of mutual concern.

On September 9, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inspected the Egyptian archaeological models, among the historical and cultural exhibits of the countries participating in the G20 summit in New Delhi.


On September 9, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of France, Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi.


On September 9, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a mini Africa-Europe summit, which was held on the sidelines of the Group of 20, G20, Summit, in New Delhi. The mini-summit brought together the leaders and representatives of Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and France as well as South Africa, Nigeria and the Comoros, which is holding the current Chairmanship of the African Union. This is in addition to the EU, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The Africa-Europe mini-summit focused on developments in a multitude of dossiers of common interest, notably the African Union’s admission into the G20. The AU’s membership was welcomed and President El-Sisi confirmed that it represents a step in the right direction, offering the opportunity to set the continent’s priorities on the international agenda.

The participants had an in-depth discussion on the current international situation and its negative repercussions on the issue of food security.
President El-Sisi emphasized that containing the challenges of the growing food crisis, particularly in the African continent, requires developing a common vision to enhance the governance of the global food security system. This vision shall be based on the centrality of the multilateral order, and the consistency of efforts exerted by international financial institutions and effective parties in responding promptly and effectively to the crisis, including its root-causes and multiple dimensions. The President reiterated that one of the main priorities of Egypt’s Chairmanship of AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee is to activate “The Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Program”, in a manner that supports food security in Africa, in light of the urgent need to develop the agricultural sector and rural development to achieve food security for the peoples of Africa.

During their mini-summit, the African and European leaders were aligned with regard to the importance of continuing coordination and action to take full advantage of their partnership, in order to reinforce exchanging mutual interest and gains.


On September 9, 2023, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, received President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the G20 Summit venue in New Delhi.


On September 9, 2023,  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India.

President El-Sisi and the President of the European Commission expressed mutual appreciation for the outstanding Egyptian-European relations. They underscored interest to further advance and deepen the traditional Strategic Partnership between Egypt and the EU, taking into consideration the fact that both sides share the Mediterranean regional neighborhood, and the important impact this geographic position had historically on extending bridges of cultural, commercial and political communication between Egypt and the European continent.

The meeting followed-up on progress in the various aspects of the two sides' relations. President El-Sisi looked forward to further strengthening cooperation with the EU, based on the principle of “Mutual Benefit and Common Interest”, and as a cornerstone for regional integration and stability. The President confirmed that the EU is a key partner in the modernization process underway in the various development sectors in Egypt, including mega infrastructure projects, energy projects and green transition. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, underscored the importance of the “EU-Egypt Partnership Priorities Document 2021-2027”, as a vital framework for deepening the Egyptian-European Partnership in the coming years across all fields.


On September 9, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of the European Council Mr. Charles Michel, on the sidelines of the G20 summit in India.

The meeting discussed the need to strengthen relations between Egypt and the European Union and its member states, in light of the robust ties between the two sides and the common challenges they face on both shores of the Mediterranean. They stressed each party’s keenness to strengthen these relations and cooperation frameworks at various levels.

Satisfaction was also expressed with regard to the overall developments in joint institutional cooperation, politically, economically and developmentally, especially within the framework of the Egypt-EU partnership for the coming years until 2027. They emphasized the importance of continuing joint coordination and enhancing mutual dialogue in this regard to strengthen relations between them in light of common interests and challenges.

The meeting also discussed coordination between Egypt and the European Union on many important regional issues in international forums, especially the developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its political and economic repercussions worldwide, in addition to developments in the situation in Africa. In this regard, the President of the European Council praised Egypt’s efforts to resolve the existing crises in the region and to host large numbers of refugees, as well as its pivotal role in the field of combating illegal immigration.

The two presidents stressed the importance of advancing relations between the two countries and building on the tangible progress in order to resume various mechanisms of bilateral cooperation. They also expressed keenness to strengthen regional cooperation, as a solid strategic approach, within a framework of mutual respect, common interest and sincere intentions, so as to contribute to safeguarding security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

The two presidents exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest and ways to intensify consultation and coordination between the two countries to enhance all aspects of bilateral relations, in the interest of the two countries and peoples.

On September 10, 2023,  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, on the sidelines of the G20 summit in India.


The two leaders noted the development of relations between Egypt and Germany across all fields. This was reflected in the rate and intensity of the exchange of visits between senior officials of the two countries over the past years. The two leaders looked forward to maximizing joint cooperation in the coming period, as well as enhancing coordination and political consultation.

President El-Sisi and Chancellor Scholz reviewed the current cooperation frameworks in the fields of transportation, manufacturing, and energy sectors, and means to increase German investments in Egypt and advance economic cooperation.

The meeting also touched on ways to coordinate efforts between the two countries to combat illegal immigration, in addition to developments pertinent to a number of regional and international issues of common interest, mainly the crisis in Sudan and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

On September 18, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi.

The two presidents expressed their pride in the strong fraternal relations between Egypt and the UAE, at the official and popular levels. This is reflected in the close coordination between the two countries with the aim of supporting the stability of the Arab region, especially at this stage in which challenges are increasing internationally and regionally.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations at various levels, especially with regard to revitalizing economic cooperation, joint investments and trade exchange, in addition to enhancing cooperation in many development fields to achieve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The President also congratulated HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on the UAE’s achievement in the field of space after an Arab astronaut has completed the longest space mission, wishing the UAE and its brotherly people further progress and prosperity.


The latest developments in the regional situation and issues of common concern were also discussed during the meeting. The two leaders agreed to continue the joint effort to resolve the existing crises in the region in a way that takes into account the interests of the Arab peoples, enhances Arab solidarity, and achieves stability and prosperity in the region.

The meeting also discussed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP28), which Dubai will host at the end of this year, with the aim of benefiting from the successful Egyptian experience in hosting (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh and building on the results. The aim is to give impetus to joint climate action at the international level, in a way that preserves environmental resources and achieves the interest of humanity.
