Petroleum min., US officials mull enacting laws on carbon uses

Petroleum Minister Tareq El Molla has discussed with US officials means to boost cooperation between both sides on enacting regulations and laws on the uses and management of carbon dioxide.


The minister had a meeting on Thursday with Brad Crabtree, Assistant Secretary for the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), and Andrew Light, US Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs, on the sidelines of the 28th United Nations climate change conference (COP28), hosted by the UAE.


Both sides lauded deeply-rooted ties and close cooperation between Egypt and the United States in different domains, particularly the field of energy.


The US officials conveyed the greetings of Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, lauding the growing productive cooperation with Egypt over the past years.


El Molla also praised the leading role of US energy companies operating in the petroleum field and their contributions to establishing fruitful partnerships.
