Ministers of Housing and Environment Inaugurate the “Green Housing” Competition Projects Exhibition

Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of the Environment, opened the exhibition of projects submitted for the “Green Housing” design competition, which was launched by the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Support Fund, in cooperation with the National Center for Housing and Building Research, and under the auspices of the International Finance Corporation "IFC", in the presence of Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Support Fund, Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, and officials of the Ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the Fund.

The Ministers of Housing and Environment toured the exhibition of projects submitted for the “Green Housing” design competition, and the members of the judging committee provided an explanation of the standards and rules that were followed to compare the projects submitted for the competition, where the Minister of Housing stressed the need to take into account the economic and social aspects, and to develop models applicable to Ground.

Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar pointed out that the Green Housing Competition was launched with the aim of obtaining ideas and design standards different from traditional housing projects, which enhances their ability to reduce the climate changes that the world is witnessing, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the sustainability of buildings, provided that The winning design will be used to build the remaining units of the “Green Architecture” initiative, of which 25,000 units are being built in the first phase, and 30,000 units are scheduled to be built in the second phase.
