The second round of Egypt’s National Dialogue commenced on Monday with a key focus on economic issues.

The dialogue is holding three closed-door sessions from 11am to 7pm.

The sessions will tackle increasing prices and high inflation rates.

The sessions will also address the obstacles facing production and exports, monetary policy, and the dollar shortage.

Several government officials, experts, and specialists are participating in the dialogue.

In a brief statement on Monday, the National Dialogue’s Board of Trustees said the new round will focus on the urgent economic challenges and the possible quick and implementable solutions.

The launch of these sessions signifies the beginning of a new phase in the national dialogue journey under the slogan common spaces, aiming to reach serious outcomes that serve the nation and its citizens, added the statement.

The National Dialogue was launched in May 2022 upon a call from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to address Egypt's diverse political, economic, and social issues.

In August, the first round of discussions concluded with a set of recommendations that was delivered to President El-Sisi.

The president has ordered enacting the necessary legislation to implement the recommendations.

In September of last year, the dialogue’s activities were adjourned until the conclusion of the presidential election.

In January, President El-Sisi called for the launch of a second round of the National Dialogue to tackle the current economic challenges facing the Egyptian economy.
