Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat said the efforts led by her ministry in coordination with national authorities have contributed to providing concessional development financing worth more than $900 million to support Egypt's universal health insurance system.

The financing is divided into a sum of $400 million from the World Bank Group, $181. 6 million from the French Development Agency, in addition to a sum of $326.7 million from the Japanese side, Mashat added during a speech she delivered as part of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

This comes within the framework of development cooperation relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners, she added.

The minister underscored the importance of the universal health insurance system and existing cooperation with the World Bank to support efforts to invest in human capital in Egypt; in a way that helps achieve sustainable development in the country.
