The International Conference on Sports Culture

Under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in the State of Palestine, and Dr. George Kallas, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Lebanese Republic, witnessed on Saturday 20/04/2024, the opening of the International Conference on Sports Culture, organized by the Arab Federation for Sports Culture, to celebrate and honor a number of Arab sports stars in all fields.

The conference began with an opening session, in the presence of Mogens Kirkeby President of the International Sports Culture Association (ISCA), Dr. Emad El Bannany former President of the National Sports Council (NSC), Secretary-General of the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC/UCSA), member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Arab Federations and Secretary-General of the Conference, in addition to the journalist Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the Arab Federation for Sports Culture.

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Ashraf conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, in which he stressed that holding the Sports Culture Conference comes within the framework of Egypt’s strategy to build humanity through sports, which is reflected in the physical strength and psychological state of citizens, and that the Egyptian state appreciates the value of sports and its positive role that is reflected in society, so that sport becomes a philosophy of life for its practitioners and a supportive partner in achieving sustainable development for the nation.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi pointed out that Egypt is now experiencing a boom at all levels and in all fields, pointing out that the Egyptian sports movement has witnessed remarkable development achieved thanks to the support of the political leadership considering it national security, and one of the most important components of a comprehensive state, as it has become a strong contributor to supporting the national economy by hosting and organizing many international championships.

Mogens Kirkeby, President of the International Sports Culture Association (ISCA), thanked the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, and the Egyptian state for paying due attention to the issues of sports culture and working on spreading it.

Minister Faisal Ghassal, Director of Youth and Sports Department at the Arab League, conveyed the greetings of Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, explaining several concepts related to promoting sports culture and making it a way of life. He also pointed out to the areas of work carried out by the Council of Arab Ministers for Youth and Sports, including sports culture, wishing continued success for the conference in its various sessions and activities.

Dr. Emad El Bannany former President of the National Sports Council (NSC), Secretary-General of the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC/UCSA), member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Arab Federations and Secretary-General of the Conference, expressed his thanks and appreciation to all attendees, highlighting the efforts of the Union of African Confederations.

The journalist Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the African, Arab and Egyptian Union for Sports Culture confirmed that sports and culture are two sides of the same coin, and it is a source of pride that the ancient Egyptians were the first to create many sports games, which the world took it from them, where  many of them were included in the Olympic program.

This was followed by the announcement of the formation of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Federation for Sports Culture, consisting of the Qatari Mohammed bin Yousef Al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee as Chairman, the Emirati Eisa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, the Jordanian Jamal Al-Sarayrah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jordanian Society for Sports Culture, and the Egyptian Dr. Emad El Bannany, former president of the National Sports Council, the Saudi Faisal Ghassal, director of the Sports Department of the League of Arab States, the Omani Badr Al-Rawas, former president of the Omani Dhofar Club, the Saudi Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qannas, president of the Arab Karate Federation, the Algerian Olympic champion Hasiba Boulmerka, first vice president of the Algerian Olympic Committee, and the Lebanese Zaid Al-Khayami, former Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Youth and Sports.



Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers witnessed the activities of the three sessions of the International Conference on Sports Culture.
