Following an important meeting held by President Mohamed Morsi on Saturday 13/10/2012 with the Supreme Judicial Council at the presidential palace in Heliopolis, the crisis of the Prosecutor General Counselor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud, who attended the meeting, came to an end.
Vice President Mahmoud Mekki told a press conference following the meeting that preserving the judicial authority like other authorities of the state is an essential goal.
Vice President Mekki said the president promised to suspend the measures of appointing the chief prosecutor as an ambassador to the Vatican in respect of the judicial authority and the Supreme Judicial Council.
This concurred with a statement by Mahmoud at a meeting with judges in the Supreme Court building, downtown Cairo that President Morsi had agreed on his demand to remain in his post.
He said each party offered his view during the consultations which were held at the presidency building over the decree appointing him as an ambassador of Egypt to the Vatican.
Counselor Mahmoud said during those consultations, he expressed his wish to keep his post adding this was agreed on by the president.
