Morsy, PM discuss supporting Egyptian community in US

President Mohamed Morsi held a meeting on Thursday 01/11/2012 with Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and a number of presidential advisors on providing all necessary support for Egyptians living in the US where Sandy hurricane has hit many states, the presidency said a statement.

Meanwhile, Morsi sent a cable of condolences to US President Barack Obama over the victims of Sandy hurricane, which ravaged the eastern coast of the US.

Millions in the US remain without power or transportation in the wake of Sandy, which caused dozens of deaths and billions of dollars in damage along the country's East Coast.

The worst damage was in the New York area, the most densely populated stretch of land in the country.

At least 18 people were killed in the city, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The Egyptian consul to the US confirmed that neither the consulate nor the US authorities have received any report, till now, about the death of any Egyptian in the Sandy hurricane.
