Giza Governorate

It is one of Greater Cairo Region urban governorates. It is in the center of the country, situated on the west bank of the Nile River opposite Cairo. Its capital is the city of Giza.
It includes a stretch of the left bank of the Nile Valley around Giza, and acquired a large stretch of desert, including Bahariya Oasis.
Giza is privileged with plenty of ancient Pharoanic monuments, hence leads all governorates in regard to abundance of Pharoanic monuments after Luxor city. Most Important monuments include Giza pyramids, the Sphinx, Cheops Canoe.
Location: It is one of Greater Cairo Region urban governorates. It is bordered in the North by Cairo, and extends till 6th October in the south west of the country.
The Governorate's national day: 31st March marks the anniversary of the battle which took place in 1919 between Nazlet el-Shobak's farmers and the British occupation troops.
Total area: 121.00 km2.
