Foreign ministry: Interim gov’t had to apply law in Egypt

The foreign ministry asserted on Wednesday that the interim government was keen on achieving reconciliation and was working on implementing a roadmap that was announced on July 3.
In a statement, the ministry said the government had tried all ways to end peacefully the sit-ins in Rabaa Adawiya in Cairo and Nahdah Square in Giza but in vain.
"The government had no option but to shoulder its responsibility and apply law to protect citizens by enforcing decisions of the public prosecution in this regard."
The statement regretted the deaths of people when security forces stormed the sites of two sit-ins staged by backers of deposed president Mohamed Morsi in Cairo and Giza.
