Monday، 03 February 2014 - 12:00 AM

27 January, 2014

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on Monday, January 27, 2014 held an emergency meeting where they reviewed the current situation in the country at the critical time which is full of major events. The Council followed up with full vigilance and interest all events that took place since January 25 Revolution in 2011 and June 30 Revolution in 2013 and the immense responsibilities undertaken by popular forces and the army to attain the joint goals of maintaining the security and stability of the homeland.

The Council reviewed the achievements of Colonel General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi since he assumed power for upgrading the efficiency of the Armed Forces and honing up their combat capabilities along with boosting their morale.

The council had no choice but to respect the overwhelming desire of the majority of the great Egyptian people for having Colonel General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi running in the coming presidential elections; a mission considered by the Council as a national duty. The Council listened to Colonel General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi while keeping in mind that the confidence of the public in him compels him to respond within the framework of the free choice of the Egyptian people. The Council has decided that Colonel General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi would act in line with his own national conscience and undertake the responsibility for which he was summoned by the people; especially that the final judge on this score will be the balloting boxes. The Council in all cases considers the public will of the Egyptian people is a command that should be responded to and a duty that should be fulfilled.

At the end of the meeting, Colonel General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi extended all thanks and appreciation for SCAF and the Armed Forces and their commanders, officers and conscripts for their understanding of the current situation and giving him the right to respond to the call of duty and the homeland's necessities.

May Allah keep Egypt and its great people safe and sound.
