The government reiterates its absolute commitment to the implementation of the roadmap approved by the Egyptian people as the blueprint for establishing a modern state built on the foundation of democratic institutions, and for realizing the goals of their two revolutions of January 25 and June 30.
The Egyptian people demonstrated their support for the roadmap when they participated in the referendum on the constitution in unprecedented numbers. Accordingly, the government anticipates the steps to be taken by the High Committee for Presidential Elections regarding the procedures of these elections, and affirms its determination to provide everything that is necessary to ensure the success of the electoral process in a manner that is transparent and fair.
The government also asserts that it shall remain completely impartial towards all candidates, welcomes cooperation with all Egyptian and foreign entities looking to follow the elections.
The government also affirms its commitment to the full right of any citizen, regardless of religious or political affiliation, to face fair trials and the right of every defendant to fully defend themselves either directly or through a representative, in adherence to the articles of the constitution, which guarantee the full rights and freedoms of citizens, including defendants.
The government is keen to establish full equality between citizens, and ensure that they enjoy the same rights before the law, including undergoing all legal procedures throughout the different phases of a trial while enjoying all legal guarantees. This is part of a clear vision aiming to realize the aspirations of the Egyptian people for a true democracy founded upon the principles of the rule of law, justice, equality, and separation of powers.
