Egyptian Mufti Shawqi Allam said on Sunday that Egypt is taking steady steps towards restoring its leading role at the regional and international levels.
These remarks came during a meeting with a UK parliamentary delegation.
"While Egypt is entering a new phase, Egyptians are determined to take the challenge and bring about stability to their homeland," said Allam.
He noted that the 'religious minority' concept is not common in the Egyptian community.
Speaking about the death sentences issued recently in Egypt, Allam said he extensively examines these verdicts then sends his opinion on them from the religious perspective to the criminal court, which issues its final decision.
The delegation has thanked Darul-Iftaa (House of Islamic Edicts) for its historic role in Egypt and the world.
