Al-Azhar warns against calls to raise Quran copies during protests

Saturday، 22 November 2014 - 12:00 AM

Al-Azhar said on Thursday calls to raise copies of the Holy Quran protests slated for November 28th are meant to revive sedition.

In a statement, Al-Azhar warned that bringing copies of the Holy Quran to the protests is an act of “religion abuse” and a way to deceive Muslims under the cloak of religion.

The statement asserted that such a move is considered sedition fomented by the religion traders who tarnished the image of Islam.

In the same context, a number of senior scholars in Al-Azhar and Awqaf ministry delivered Friday sermons about the "destructive calls and how to confront them" to warn citizens against the malicious calls to hold demonstrations raising copies of the Holy Quran.
