Egypt is taking part in the Climate Change Conference that kicks off in Paris on November 30 and lasts until December 11. The conference is invested with special importance in light of the high level of participation where more than 135 heads of state and government will attend the event.

The Egyptian delegation to the summit meetings is led by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The Egyptian leader will hold several meetings on the sidelines of the summit with high level officials from France and other countries. He will also have talks with senior officials from major companies.

According to Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef, Egypt's participation in this year's summit is of special importance given the fact that the Egyptian leader is the head of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change. So, Egypt will be very much concerned with expressing and expounding the interests of the African countries on this score.

President Sisi will deliver a speech on behalf of the African nations to express their stance supporting all efforts for reaching a binding agreement on the climate change. President Sisi will highlight in his speech that the agreement should be objective and take into consideration the full rights of all parties concerned. The president will also underline that the proposed agreement should be based on the principle of joint responsibility as Egypt holds that the African countries should obtain their right to receiving adequate funding and modern technology that are required to shift into green economy and attain sustainable development given the fact that Africa is the least continent that causes greenhouse gas emissions while it is the most continent that suffers from the consequences of climate change.

Egypt's participation in the Paris climate change conference will also offer an opportunity for bilateral talks on means of promoting cooperation between Egypt and France in several domains. President Sisi is set to have talks with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, Prime Minister Manuel Valls and other senior officials including the ministers of defense and interior along with Senate Speaker Gérard Larcher.
