PM: Suez Canal is largest, maritime development projects

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said the new Suez Canal project was part of a promising plan to bring back the Egyptian economy on track, noting that Suez Canal is the largest and iconic maritime development project in Egypt.

Addressing the First Global Suez Canal Navigation Conference on Monday 22/2/2016, he said that the new Suez Canal project has high importance for the trade movement transiting the canal and would have positive outcome on the transport economies of the canal that could remain the first option for the world trade movement.

The project was a real challenge for Egyptians who proved to the whole world how they and their leadership were committed to its pledges, he added.

The mega projects which are being carried out by Egypt in the canal area would help in spreading safety and security for the whole country and would turn Egypt into an investment hub in the region.

Ismail also voiced happiness over inaugurating East Port Said canal which was achieved in a record time to help in easing trade movement to and from East Port Said Harbor and lure in more ships to this promising harbor and double its capacity to become a main port in the Mediterranean region.

The premier voiced hope that the conference would result in bringing closer viewpoints and beef up cooperation among participants with the aim of achieving common interests for all parties.
