The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, The Ministry of Education and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport have undertaken the organization of the 20th International Olympiad in Informatics.

Ministry of Communications and Information Technology

Information and communications technology (ICT) has become a determinant feature of nowadays world we live in, representing the backbone of societies around the globe including, of course, Egypt. Since its establishment in 1999, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has worked steadfastly to unleash the potential of this sector. As a result, Egypt today posses a state-of-the-art communication system, including three mobile phone operator companies serving a subscriber base that has witnessed exponential growth.

Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education is the one responsible for all schools in Egypt. The ministry was one of the first governmental bodies to adopt Information Technology (IT) in the country. The ministry carried out a project to establish IT labs in various schools across Egypt to train both students and teachers to embrace IT and realize their potential. MOE aims at increasing the number of labs and introducing innovative educational programs such as e-learning, productive schools and smart schools that would provide new windows of opportunity for youth.

Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport is a specialized educational institution of the Arab league engaged in teaching, training, research and community services. The Academy is a multifaceted institution with a diversity of functions serving a multinational body of students coming mainly from Arab and African countries. Since the Academy’s inception in 1972 as the Arab Academy for Maritime Transport, it has been educating, training, and qualifying students in all disciplines, science and technology related to the various aspects of the maritime industry. The academy offers Bachelor degrees in Maritime Transport, in addition to marine and engineering certificates of competency.

The Academy also offers Bachelor degrees in various engineering fields. In addition, it offers Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Tourism & Hotel Management. AASTMT also offers Bachelor degrees in Computing and Information Technology.
