The Diplomatic relations between Egypt and Chile began as non-resident representation in 1929, and in 1957 promoted to be at Ambassadorial level.
There is obvious compatibility between the view points of both countries regarding various issues of common interest in the Middle East region and on the international arena.
The Egyptian-Chilean Joint Committee was established under the Economic Cooperation Accord signed in 1988. A periodical consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries was established under an accord between the them signed in 1995. The last meeting was convened in October 2004.
